Remember Italy has a Communist government headed by a Catholic. Italians are
struggling with whether Atheism or Catholicism makes sense, in the midst of
growing materialism and senselesness. What help the earthquake victims are
getting is coming from voluntary assistance, not the government. The day of
the first earthquake the Pope was in Bologna at a Rock concert.

I may not ask anything that is less, that is so worthy of you. If I ask
anything less, ever I want, for only in you I have all.'
Julian of Norwich, Westminster Manuscript
