I have a computer program, Bible Windows, that has among many other
things, translations from several Bibles, including The Darby Bible, The
Bible in Basic English, The American Standard Version, and The Webster
Bible. Can anyone tell me anything about these Bibles, especially
scholarly acceptance?
I am also looking for a recent scholarly edition of the Septuagint,
preferably with both Greek and English, but English alone will do. So
far all I have been able to find is one that is 90 years old.
Finally, does anyone know of any work done on Jerome's translation of
the Hebrew Bible? I am looking for commentary on his choice of Latin
words (variations and/or deviations from the Hebrew) and the influence
of the Septuagint, if any, on his translations of the Pentateuch.
Thanks -
Nina Rulon-Miller
