Dear Listmembers,
I am posing a question on behalf of a colleague of mine at Bristol, Prof.
Judith Bryce. Judith would like to know if anyone has come across the
following saint in any source: Gugliemla/Wilhelmina
Gulielma/Wilhelmina is a character in an Antonia Pulci play dating around
the 1480s. Guilielma was the daughter of an English king and was married
to the King of Hungary. She was kidnapped by her brother, but lived a holy
life. Once she was reunited with her husband and leprous brother-in-law
all three joined a monastery. Does anyone have any idea where Antonia
Pulci get the idea for the character of Gulielma?
Any suggestions will be most welcome, thanks in advance!
Carolyn
