MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN HISTORY
The Department of History and Classics, University of Alberta,invites
applications for a two-year contractually limited appointment as a Visiting
Assistant Professor in the area of medieval history, and senior
undergraduate courses in the central/high middle ages. Ability to
teach one of the following would be an advantage: women's history; cultural
history; history of science/technology/medicine; environmental history. The
successful candidate also will be expected to teach a large-enrolment course
in world history. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research is
essential; a Ph.D. is required prior to issuance of a contract. The
appointment will be from 1 July 1998 to 30 June 2000, conditional on funds
being made available. The current salary
floor for an Assistant Professor is $39,490. A letter of application, a
curriculum vitae, university transcripts, and representative samples of
publications or other written work are required. In addition, three
referees should be asked to send confidential letters of appraisal to Ms Louise
Jenkins, Secretary to the Hiring Committee, Department of History and
Classics, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, T6G 2H4.
