Dear all
At DC4 in Canberra I took on the responsibility to coordinate a small
group of interested people in discussing the meaning of the current
"date" definition and whether it needs expanding.
We have done this since March and have explored our views, and
solutions to the minimialist - Structuralist tensions inherent in
date
As yet our small group has not come to any definite agreement
although progress is being made.
I have noted some discussion on Meta2 about date over the last month
or so about dates but it does not seem to have developed into a major
discussion like some other topics of discussion of late.
I am quite happy to continue to discuss this topic among our group,
and hope we come to some recommendation soon.
Alternatively I am open to expanding the group to other interested
people on the list as a seperate discussion. (if we do this we will
probably need a dedicated listserv set up, which we havn't now).
Alternatively we could just discuss this on Meta2 ( I am against this
move until we actually come up with a recommendation)
Date will need to be talked about in Helsinki, I would love to be
there and will work towards this, but I don't know how possible this
will be. Helsinki is about as far away as you can get from
Wellington.
Andrew
PS From Tomorrow, Friday (Thursday in the US) I will be on holiday,
and unable to read my Email until 5 August.
