>From the "bestiary" (http://andrew.triumf.ca/TYPE.html):
The following types have moderately strong support, either in suggestions
or in terms of schemes currently in use:
THESIS 8
BOOK 6
HOMEPAGE 6
SOFTWARE 6
MANUAL 5
JOURNAL 5
DICTIONARY 5
IMAGE 5
MAP 5
VIDEO 5
FAQ 4
CATALOG 3
It seems to me these all have something in common - most people
(or at least academics/online) have a pretty good idea what they are
without it having to be explained.
The following have moderately strong support, but with various subtypes:
DOCUMENT 8
SOUND 7
MESSAGE 4
DATA 5
MAGAZINE 4
-------------------
Personally, I think the FICTION/NONFICTION qualifier is important,
otherwise one could end up in a novel or Sci-Fi magazine when one was
looking for details on e.g. computers or space propulsion systems. (Would
the Journal of Irreproducible Results be JOURNAL.FICTION ? How about the
Journal of Academic Tee-Shirts ?? - yes, it really exists (or did) - )
