Fair enough. But I think we will find that the sub-types of
"Data" will evolve and grow - and then there is a danger
that "Data" could become the dumping ground for lots of
stuff that doesn't seem to fit comfortably anywhere else.
"Data" could become the "Misc" that we thought we were
avoiding.
However, typically on the web there *is* a DLO which acts as the
gateway to each of the other types of resources. Currently this
is often a "form", but I for one am unhappy about these having
to be buried down at "Text.Form" (I think this is the slot in
Roy's Structuralist draft) because
(i) I do not feel this assignment captures the meaning
of this class of DLO's properly
(ii) increasingly, these gateways use graphical
elements, as the interface, rather than "text".
I suggest that we need "Interactive" or "Gateway" or something.
"Text.Form" is of course still necessary for a whole other class
of documents, but not these.
I also still can't see a slot for "Multimedia" or "Compound",
and also for the related "Collection", which I think can be
genuine DLO's.
I also support Arthur's comments on "Environment" -
this is ambiguity prone. As a "reserved word" we
need not worry about the spelling, etc,
but by using a term which has a special meaning to
one of our classes of users, but which is different
to their use, there is a danger of scaring them off
with the appearance of orthogonal behaviour.
