I confess--I have been on the list for several months now; and, what's
stranger still, am introducing myself only now on the verge of suspending
my connection (June 12-July 25) for a trip to Italy.
I teach at UCLA, have published books on Michelstaedter and his peers
(1910: THE EMANCIPATION OF DISSONANCE), Pirandello, Conrad, Musil
(ESSAYISM), and have edited others on Nietzsche in Italy as well as
contemporary Italian poetry. The Lombroso debate has debated, but it is
true that I found his name in the not very sophisticated RANDOM HOUSE
COLLEGE DICTIONARY I have owned for years. Still, it is a pleasure to be
connected to such a vast circle of scholars, and I look forward to be back
on in July.
Anyone interested in participating in the 16th AISLLI Convention in Los
Angeles this coming October should contact me as soon as convenient.
Details will be properly posted quite soon.
