Dear List Members,
my name is Maria Galli Stampino, originally from Gallarate
(Varese), currently Assistant Professor of italian and French at the
University of Miami (Florida). I completed last June my Ph.D. at Stanford
U. w/ a dissertation entitled "Theatrical Representations and the
Audience's Point of View, 1574-1628" in which I micro-reconstructed 2
performances of Torquato Tasso's _Aminta_. WIth the help of a
faculty-development grant, in a few days I'm off to Florence for the
Summer, where I hope to complete research on those 2 stagings and start
unearthening documents about a 3rd one. My immediate concerns go beyond
theater, as I see the latter as one of many fields where "representation"
is crucial. I am also at work on _commedia dell'arte_ and on post-council
of Trent pamplets on painting. Hopefuly this is clear, concise and to the
point! I look forward to many stimulating "conversations" w/ many of you!
