As a student at the Royal School of Librarianship, Denmark, I am working on a paper on metadata and Dublin Core, due next friday (May 30.). I have a few questions that I can't seem to find only one answer to when I read the documents I have found on the subject. I believe this mailing list is the only right place to ask.
In order of importance to my work:
1) Are there any recommendations regarding whether the name of the elements should be written in lower or higher case?
2) RIGHTS : Will an empty or missing RIGHTS element mean that the document is free of limitations or that use of the document requires acceptance from the creator? (The "no assumptions should be made by users if sush a field is empty or not present" in the Reference Description <URL: http://purl.org/metadata/dublin_core_elements> is being read in different ways here in Denmark...)
3) CREATOR : is the recommended/default form First_name Last_name or Last_name, First_name?
4) LANGUAGE : will the recommended/default form be the revised Z39.53 three character code or the ISO 639-2 or still "free text"?
5) DATE : is the recommended/default form of date the ANSI X3.30 e.g. 19970523 (as written in the Reference Description <URL: http://purl.org/metadata/dublin_core_elements>) or the ISO 8601 e.g. 1997-05-23 (as suggested in Dublin Core Qualifiers/Substructure : a proposal by Rebecca Guenther <URL: http://www.loc.gov/marc/dcqualif.html>)?
