Lahey and Fujitsu Announce Fortran Alliance

November 19, 1997 - Fujitsu Limited and Lahey Computer
Systems, Inc. today announced an alliance to develop and
market future generations of Fortran language systems and
tools for Windows-based personal computers. The deal will
bring together decades of Fortran compiler experience from
both sides of the Pacific and lead to the widespread
availability of solid, high-performance compilers and
tools for Fortran 95, Fortran 2000, and beyond.
"Fujitsu's strength in code generation and optimization
technology, the craftsmanship of their tools and their
experience in Fortran will augment our existing strengths
in the PC Fortran marketplace," said Bob Runyan, president

users worldwide."
