Dear Jaqueline, We meet here! I've got a copy of the Strange Latin ed ... incidentally, I USED to
own a copy of the 1929 translation, and found that in a few texts I used it was worrying: it
systematically 'bowdlerised' the original.
Refs work ok [book = distinctio]; in following, Dist no & ch. no [all agreeing with your book & chapter
nos, and in parentheses Strange vol 2 and page no].
Dist 1 ch 1 [Strange vol 1, p. 7] sanctus Bernardus]; 1.6 [I, p.13] sanctum Bernardum; 1.7 [I, 16]
sancti Bernardi; 1.8 [I.16] sanctus Bernardus abbas; 1.9 [I.17] beatus bernardus; 1.16 [I.23]
sanctus Bernardus, vir sanctus, sanctum Abbatem, vir beatus, vir sanctus; 1.19 [I.26] beato
Bernardo, venerabilis Abbas; 2.3 [i.62-63], Beatus Bernardus, sanctus Abbas, Abbate, sanctus;
2.15 [I.84], sanctus Bernardus; 2.16 [I.85-6] sanctus Bernardus Abbas Claraevallis, sanctus vir,
sancto Abbate; 2.18 [I.88[, sancti Bernardi; 3.6 [I.120] in miraculis sancti Bernardi legitur; 3.7
[I.120], sancto Bernardo Claraevallis Abbate, Abbatis; 3.38 [I.159], beatus Bernardus Abbas
Claraevallis; 4.1 [I.172] sanctus Bernardus, Abbas beatus, Abbas; 4.7 [I.179] sanctus Abbas
Bernardus, Abbas, vir sanctus [bis]; 8.31 [II.105] in Vita sancti Bernardi Abbatis Claraevallis; 11.2
[II.268] sancti Bernardi Abbatis; 11.30 [II.295] sancti Bernardi.
I'm doing this quickly, about to have a seminar: do get back to me if they're seem to be problems!
love, Pete

The 1929 translation of Caesarius is bad in every way. The translator was
ignorant about the 12th and 13th c. Rhineland, and about a lot of medieval
terminology. It's sad also that there is no edition more recent than Strange.
