This is what is known as a first tier search, so we can
only look at Canadians this year. However, non-Canadians
(or non-Canadian landed immigrants) should still consider
applying as this gives us an idea of what the field is like
should we go to a "second tier" or international search.
I first applied for my job when it was a first tier search,
as I was not Canadian I did not get considered, but the following

Urban Planning
The Department of Geography, University of Toronto, invites
applicants for a tenure-stream position at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
rank in Urban Planning, beginning July, 1997. The successful
candidate will teach in the Graduate Planning and undergraduate
Geography programs. Candidates should have a Ph. D. in Geography,
Planning, or a closely related field on appointment (or soon
thereafter) and at least one degree in Planning. Candidates should
have research interests and professional experience in urban
planning, with particular reference to the social, economic and
regulatory dynamics shaping land use, built form and urban design.
Candidates should have a willingness to develop/pursue teaching and
research into Canadian urban planning issues. Candidates should also
demonstrate how they can contribute to the Department’s undergraduate
program. Preference will be given to candidates who are eligible for
membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners.
