>George, the best place I know of to start is Gertrud Schiller,
*Iconography of Christian Art*, trans. J. Seligman, 2 vols. (London,
1971-72). There are, of course, innumerable studies of the iconography
of individual saints, but I know of no current index or list of all of
them. I recall using a French work in PIMS library, a sort of dictionary
that discusses the attributes of individual SS (e.g., the ring for Edward
the Confessor) but at the moment cannot recall author/title or just how
comprehensive it is. I won't alas be going to PIMS until sometime late
next week but will pull it off the shelf and convey info to you then.
