Father Augustine Thompson - bless his soul - announced more than a year ago
on another discussion group that he and Judge Noonan have translated all the
relevant passage from the Editio Romana concerning marriage laws, and is
willing to put it at the disposal of any scholar who sends him the price of
the diskette. The text, printed up in WP5, looks like a real book, and
carries the common-law copyright of both authors, which they request that
you should keep in it in any printing. I find it invaluable in teaching
courses on history of law. Alas, I no longer have Father Thompson's address,
but if memory serves he's at Oregon someplace, and used to subscribe to
mediev-l, or medtextl - one of the lists will carry his email address. He
has also brought out a translation of Gratian's Treatise on Laws - but I'm
not sure you want that part of the Decretum.
Best Wishes
Esther Cohen
