Re the passage of Guibert of Nogent on Glossolalia, I have re-edited this
fascinating chapter on heretics from a new MS in "An excerpt from Guibert of
Nogent's Monodiae (III, 17) appended to Augustine's De haeresibus", Revue
des etudes augustiniennes 33 (1987) 113-27. This does not affect the
passage in question, quod fi quo nescio rotatu longo sermonum
(which happens
through some long repetition of words). In that study I suggest that the
Manichaean frame imposed on this reformist group may disguise its true
nature, perhaps not so different from other groups of the time which looked
back to the Acts of the Apostles; perhaps it could have been pentecostal.
