I think I'm another of those who forgot to introduce themselves when they
joined the list. I teach in the History Dept. at the University of
Illinois, and my general research interests are in the history of religion
and society, and the history of women and gender in the early and high
middle ages.
My book, Consorting with Saints: Prayer for the Dead in Early Medieval
France, was published in 1994 by Cornell. I will eventually publish a
second book on the transformation of prayer for the dead in twelfth-century
France, but at the moment I'm working on a new project, examining the
intersection of sexuality, gender, and authority (both ecclesiastical and
secular) at the time of the Investiture Controversy (eleventh, early
twelfth century). I know there are a few people out there interested in
such matters--anyone else want to chime in?
