In calling myself a new member I am merely following `first message' guide lines as I have been lurking
for a few months now, but have been following the discussions with interest.
I am a research student at the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of York still in the M.Phil
stage. I am chiefly working on the `Liber confortatorius' by Goscelin of St Bertin and will be interested to
hear from any one working on any of his works. At the moment I am trying to pinpoint Goscelin's
attitude towards the female recipient of his `letter' and to see how his ideas of female spirituality fit in
with those of his contemporaries and those authors of rules for recluses that succeed him.
