Two further thoughts ...
I assessed a student a number of years ago who had damaged her neck muscles
as the result of many years of headpointer typing. The solution we came up
with was for her to type with her feet (which were quite dexterous) on a
Tash King keyboard. It required a bit of carpentry to make a suitable
keyboard stand/footrest but it worked.
You could try substituting the ( I assume standard) keyboard with a Maltron
- centre frequency, mouthstick keyboard, mounted on an Angle-poise copy
holder. It can make for a much better posture for the student and would
probably make using a predictor easier.
