Full-time position as research fellow available at the Department of
Psychiatry Uniklinik RWTH Aachen University (Post-Doc, 100%, pay grade
TV-L 13). The position is initially limited for 2 years, but a
prolongation is possible.
The interdisciplinary research projects in our work group are
translational and pursue multimodal imaging techniques as well as
behavioral, electrophysiological and neuroendocrinological approaches
and data. Modern analytical methods to assess network characteristics
are applied on big fMRI data sets.
Eligible candidates are expected to develop and conduct their own
research field within the thematic focus of the work group, preferably
in methodological development of analytical tools in neuroimaging, big
data and machine learning.
Fields of responsibility:
• Cooperation and own initiative in writing research grant proposals
• Designing and conducting of research projects, including analyses
of multimodal data sets
• Publication of results in peer reviewed journals
• Presentation of research activities on national and international
conferences
• Supervision of Bachelor and Master theses as well as medical
doctoral theses
We expect:
• PhD or equivalent graduation in a discipline relevant to the
described position (computational neuroscience, medical engineering,
computer science, psychology, physics)
• Experience in the field of data science and machine learning
• Data management and programming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python, R)
• A distinctive interest in the neuronal foundations of mental disorders
• Expertise in at least one of the applied methods (fMRI, EEG, PET,
specific analytical tools or stimulation methods, neuropsychology,
psychopathology)
• Fluent English skills written and spoken
• Excellent expertise in relevant application software (MS Office,
SPSS, R)
• Exceptional commitment, load capacity, flexibility, self-reliance,
and enjoyment of team work
The research program is situated in the Jülich-Aachen Research Alliance
at the RWTH Aachen University and the Research Center Jülich
(JARA-BRAIN, www.jara.org/jara-brain). The position is embedded in the
DFG-funded International Research Training Group “The Neuroscience of
Modulating Aggression and Impulsivity in Psychopathology” (IRTG 2150,
http://www.irtg2150.rwth-aachen.de/), which maintains an intensive
collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania (USA).
