Dear colleagues,
We warmly invite you to propose papers for our panel "States of Feeling:
Exploring Public Servants’ and Citizens’ Affective and Emotional
Entanglements", taking place during the APAD conference (Lomé, 23-26 June
2020).
This panel examines how an attention to affect, emotion and feelings
enhances our understandings of the state, both in the global south and
comparatively across contexts. To explore this central, but understudied
dimension of the relationship between and among public servants, citizens
and their state, we invite papers that examine the bureaucratic “work”
emotions do, the affective and subjective relations formed with the state,
and the methodological considerations in conducting such ethnography.
Please submit your papers by the *20th of February* via the following link:
https://apad-association.org/colloques/colloque-formulaire/
Kind regards,
The organizing team
