The PhD student community at the Department of Cultur e, Media and Cr eative Industries (CMCI), in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at King’s College London (KCL) is pleased to open the call for participants for the symposium: East Asian Popular Culture as a Disruptor 2020.

This workshop intends to act as a situated response to what have written in Rey Chow(1994) “Where Have all the Natives Gone” and Gayatri Spivak (1988) “Can the Subaltern Speak”, deploying studies in East Asian popular culture as the disruptor of the matrix of colonial power, as a reflexive voice from the Global south.
