Apologies - recirculating with the date this time.
Dear Colleagues,
You are warmly invited to the next seminar in the Crime and Justice Research Group Seminar Series 19/20 at London South Bank University
Professor Peter Squires will deliver a paper on 'Finding the Elusive Female Gun Buyer: Gender, Rights and Consequences in US Gun Politics' starting at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, 11th December in the Keyworth Centre (Room K-403), Keyworth Street, London, SE1 6NG.
Abstract: Despite much NRA and gun industry hype, surveys continue to show that the number and proportion of female gun owners is flat-lining, even falling. But why is the female gun owner so sought-after and fought over, and what does it all mean? Furthermore, despite a rhetoric of tough no- nonsense feminism - walking in the footsteps of the pioneers - what happens when women have used firearms to do what the gun lobby proposes, defend themselves by deploying lethal violence against their most likely aggressors?

Hope to see you there!
