A full-time PhD studentship for up to 4 years is jointly offered at the Department of Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Girona (UdG, Spain) and Biomathematics & Statistics Scotland (BioSS, UK). The position is linked to the "CODAMET" project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
The PhD general topic is methods and applications of compositional data analysis (http://www.compositionaldata.com/). The project will aim for methodological developments to deliver practical solutions to the problem of essential zeros in compositional data modelling, with a focus on biological and environmental applications.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within one of the world's leading research groups in compositional data analysis. The student will be based at University of Girona in Spain, with regular stays at BioSS over the duration of the project. The position will offer excellent opportunities for skills training and an enriching and friendly scientific atmosphere at both sites, as well as engagement in international collaborative work through well-established links within the group.
