We are seeking to appoint an exceptional biomedical data scientist for
the APPROACH EU IMI project. The project focus is on the development of
patient stratification algorithms for the disease osteoarthritis (OA).
To assist the project, we are integrating the data of 10 different OA
cohorts from across Europe with a variety of data sources, including
clinical data, questionnaires, imaging data, and biological assays.
You will be responsible for the design innovative data integration
strategies, which will enable the project team to extract the maximum
value from the wealth of data that the project will create, particularly
focusing on the discovery of new OA phenotypes.
You should have a PhD awarded (or nearing completion) in Data Science or
a closely related discipline with a good record of accomplishment in
publications. You should have demonstrable communication and
interpersonal skills and an aptitude for engaging with stakeholders at a
local and international level. You should have the ability to use
personal initiative and creativity to solve problems.
You should have a skill set covering most of the following:
- Experience in data integration and harmonisation
- Experience in dealing with heterogeneous biomedical data (omics,
clinical, imaging, etc.)
- Strong machine learning experience and proficiency in the state of the
art data science languages (e.g. R, python)
- Information visualisation
- Familiarity with High Performance Computing environments (e.g. HPC
clusters, GPUs, Cloud resources)
- Experience in working in highly interdisciplinary environments
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
- Ability to work under strict deadlines
