?Whilst there are good reasons, as outlined, to change the name, it has a comfortable familiarity for me. But if someone comes up with a good alternative name, I'd have no objections....
Not much help, am I?

Subject: The future of Lis-Bibliometrics
Dear Lis-Bibliometrics colleagues,
We had a useful Lis-Bibliometrics committee meeting this morning so expect a flurry of emails from committee members! One of the items we discussed was our next conference which will mark ten years since the inception of Lis-Bibliometrics. The theme of this event will be 'the future of research evaluation' and will offer something of a retrospective and an horizon-scanning exercise - more on this to follow. In line with this, it was questioned whether the name of the list, 'Lis-Bibliometrics', was still a good fit for our community. Clearly it is an established 'brand' so we wouldn't want to abandon it without careful consideration. However, we recognise that our community may not all be 'LIS (Library & Information Science)' or even 'bibliometrics' focussed. Research evaluation activities are broader than bibliometrics, and many metrics are not 'biblio'. But we wanted to put this to the community for comment before any decisions were made.
So, what do you think? Stick with Lis-Bibliometrics or adopt a new name for a new decade? All thoughts and suggestions welcome!
All best
Lizzie
