*** Apologies for cross-posting"
Dear colleagues,
the COST Action 17114 "Transdisciplinary solutions to cross sectoral disadvantage in youth" (https://young-in.eu/) is an interdisciplinary network that aims aims to understand the interrelationship of disadvantages that young people across Europe face in the process of entering the adulthood and how policies can mitigate this negative spill-over effect.
At its yearly meeting in Valetta, Malta in September 2019, two working groups of the network - WG1 "Disadvantages in youth employment" and WG4 "Enhanced tools of comparative youth studies" jointly will organise up to three sessions. These sessions will focus, on the one hand, on "gendered lives". This session will ask how individual and societal factors create inequality and exclusion in the transition of youth from education to the labour market, and what repercussions these processes have on health and well-being, psychological and economic autonomy. On the other hand, a further special session will focus on the "long-term consequences of youth disadvantage in Europe". The aim here will be to analyse in how far (and if: how) disadvantage in early career may also hamper young people’s future prospects as it reduces their ability to make and/or accumulate savings for their later career.
For both sessions, we welcome also "external" papers from interested scientists outside the network. The attached call gives you further details on the specific topics of the two calls. Authors of selected papers would be granted free travel and accomodation costs for one author.
We would welcome your abstracts by the end of next week, July 26. In case of any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Best regards,
Dirk Hofaecker
