Econometrics Adviser, The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) London
Location: Victoria House, London WC1B 4AD
Salary: £51,702 - £59,351 plus excellent benefits.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK’s main competition and consumer authority, is undergoing rapid business expansion. As the UK leaves the EU, our role will become even more important as the diversity, number, and complexity of the cases we work on increases, both in the merger control sphere and in anticompetitive behaviour cases. Our econometric analysis will be critical to how we respond to the new competition policy challenges that we face.
Econometrics Advisers are responsible for delivering complex quantitative and econometric analysis, working flexibly across a variety of projects undertaken by the CMA, including investigations into mergers and markets, competition and consumer law enforcement cases, and regulatory appeals.
You will either be working across multiple projects at the same time, or leading an econometrics work stream on a more complex case. You will be responsible for providing guidance, support and the development of econometric analysis undertaken by case teams, and assessing the validity and robustness of econometric evidence submitted by parties to a case. Econometric Advisers are also expected to contribute to developing the CMA’s econometrics capability. You may also have the opportunity to work with the CMA’s newly created Data Unit team.
