An exciting opportunity has arisen for a mathematical modeller to develop innovative models exploring the dynamics of healthcare associated infections and antimicrobial resistant (AMR) organisms, and to use these models to evaluate control strategies in order to inform policy in this high priority area.
There are few public health issues currently of greater importance than antimicrobial resistance in terms of impact on the health of society. Recently antibiotic resistance was added to the government’s national risk register of civil emergencies, while the World Health Organization has stated that resistance to antibiotics could bring "the end of modern medicine as we know it".
