Hi Terry
Thank you for your suggestion to check on NIKE App and Fit.
From what I read from the short add text, it rather is a marketing tool
instead of a design tool. NIKE devised a tool inciting people to buy more
of ONLY NIKE shoes.
Whereas what I think it is more needed here in Africa is a concept - not a
marketing tool - to come up up with footwear more fit to local people's
feet (are these physically different from feet of Caucasians?), more fit to
people's daily respective activities and ways of life, and more fit to
respective walking surface environments.
Right now, we Rwandans and Africans have on our feet footwear designed by
and for other people and other purposes, and imported - new and secondhand,
designs and/or already manufactured products - from other places. And my
very talented young friend, shoe-repair artisan, is - indirectly - asking
me whether, and how better, he should continue copying/repairing/adapting
those imports, or instead, perhaps come up with proposals of original
artefacts more suitable to his clientèle, however if those new items would
still sell better! That is the research question he submitted to me, and
that I relayed to this List to pick it up by someone else more willing,
capable and ready, or just for contributions!
I have already received some leads, thank you all who have already
contributed! And I am still expecting more inputs: thoughts, leads,
references from anyone!
Regards
François
