Dear Colleagues,
Please circulate to your students:
A postdoctoral position is available immediately under the supervision of Dr. Taylor Schmitz in the Brain and Mind Institute at Western University.
Our program of research focuses on the organization, function and disease-related dysfunctions of the cholinergic system. The successful candidate will use multimodal neuroimaging techniques to explore the organization of the cholinergic system, and how this organization relates to neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease. Neuroimaging analyses will be conducted using big data (e.g. large-scale multimodal datasets including the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative and the Human Connectome Project) in parallel with human and non-human animal imaging data collected on the high-field scanners (7T, 9.4T) at the Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping at Robarts Research Institute.
We are seeking a motivated person to analyze structural and functional neuroimaging data (MRI and PET), and to develop novel imaging techniques for monitoring central cholinergic integrity in vivo. The responsibilities of the candidate will include leading the design, acquisition, and analysis of imaging data for ongoing studies, manuscript preparation, and participation in student training and grant writing. The candidate will also provide a vital link between the Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping and the Brain and Mind Institute.
Qualified applicants for this position should have a PhD degree in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience with programming (e.g. Matlab, Python) and working with multiple different neuroimaging modalities (e.g. structural MRI, resting state fMRI, diffusion weighted imaging, and PET) and would be an asset.
The position is funded for up to two years through the National Institute on Aging and is open immediately. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Please send a statement of interest, Curriculum Vitae, and the names of at least two references to:
