Administrator and Library Assistant
The Marx Memorial Library is looking for a highly organised, self-motivated administrator with an interest in library and archive work. You will be central to the smooth-running of the educational charity. Working as part of a small team, you will manage the office administration, oversee work of volunteers and researchers in the reading room and welcome visitors and readers to the Library. The post-holder will have excellent IT and communication skills with responsibility for preparing for and promoting events and managing our membership database. Prior experience working in a public-facing role and sympathy with the MML’s aims and objectives would be highly desirable.
The MML is a library, archive and education charity with a world-class collection of books, pamphlets and archives on Marxism, the history of socialism and the working-class movement. Our small, dynamic team is based in a Grade II listed building on Clerkenwell Green. Our historic Library was founded in 1933. We hold classes, lectures and events, exhibitions and workshops and produce an annual journal Theory & Struggle.
This post is ideally suited to those with strong admin and communication skills, who would like to gain experience of library and archive work and/or are currently training to become a librarian/archivist.
This post will be 10am-5pm Monday-Thursday at £23,700 pro-rata. Deadline for applications: Friday 7 June. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 3 July. Contact Meirian Jump, Archive & Library Manager for further information and an application pack: 020 7253 1485 [log in to unmask]
