medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hi, Meg
Interesting that Phil found my revised post of 9/16/2009 (and perhaps earlier ones as well) but not my further revised post of 9/16/2010:
https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=ind1009&L=MEDIEVAL-RELIGION&F=&S=&P=43003
Perhaps he was searching only under 'Eufemia' and not under 'Euphemia' as well (the Latin form in ordinary use in modern scholarship).
Without checking, I would guess that those revisions had chiefly to do with updating links to images; after the passage some 8.5 years more of these will surely no longer work. Certainly the revisions of 2010 did not correct my earlier "Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople". This should of course have read "Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople".
On 9/16/2012 I updated some links and added a few further images:

Finding things in the medieval-religion archives can be tricky. For "saints of the day" postings (a.k.a. "feasts"; an regular feature from the dawn of list time through 2011) the most satisfactory search method seems to be to get into the archives, click on a message, and then use the date table in the box at right to pull up individual postings from on or about a particular saint's modern feast day (usually -- and simply for convenience -- according to the Roman Calendar (vel sim.) in recent revisions, with some saints not now or not ever commemorated in the church of Rome entered on a feast day currently used in some other church).
Cheers,
John

Hi Meg,
I found one more post. John Dillon wrote about St. Eufemia on 9/16/2009, concentrating more on her cult, but with less about her life than Terry Morgan provided: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=MEDIEVAL-RELIGION;62b80d5c.0909

Greetings again,
A student asks about the cult of St. Eufemia, attested in Iceland in a poem and in calendars on the 12th of april (in AM 249 b fol.) and 16th of september (in AM 249 q fol.) and in a ms. of the Ordo Nidrosiensis (AM 678 4to).
And since she undoubtedly has an entry in one of those dates in the 'Saints of the day' we used to receive, would someone remind me (and others!) how to search the archive of the list?
Thanks,
Meg
