Hey Jenny,
> How do people resolve the issue of modules that do not have (and do not require) a reading list? A colleague has suggest that we could possibly create a list that says there is no specific reading required for this module?
You can make a basic solution to this using MS Access. You can use it again and again to provide information to your academic librarians / reading list officer to chase up missing reading lists.
Your MS Access database can have three tables (sources of data):
1. Your registry information of all the modules in your institution
2. Your All List Items report - (please read this post from 2015: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=LIS-TALIS-ASPIRE;8b031d4d.1509)
3. A list of the "exceptions" i.e. modules that do not require a reading list (e.g. thesis discussion seminars), manually entered by you when you know for certain that no Aspire list is required.
You build a "query" between Table 1 and Table 2, to find -unmatched- items in Table 1. These are the modules that don't have a reading list.
You can do this in Access with the Query Wizard ("Find Unmatched Query Wizard"). Let's call this Query A.
You then build a second query between Table 3 and Query A, to find unmatched items, which are modules that don't have a reading list AND are not "exceptions" that don't require a reading list.
This will give you -only- your modules that require a reading list.
Are you going to Talis Insight? I'm happy to show you this / build it for you if you bring your data, if you're there.
Have a nice weekend,
Kevin

Subject: FW: modules with no reading lists
Hello
How do people resolve the issue of modules that do not have (and do not require) a reading list? A colleague has suggest that we could possibly create a list that says there is no specific reading required for this module? This would show that we have checked the need for a list and have established it is unnecessary. That would leave a much clearer picture of the amount of work needed to attain the elusive goal of 100% . What do other Universities do?
Regards
Jenny
