As discussed on LIS-E-RESOURCES last year, purchasing and the ongoing payment of access fees for primary source materials can be a challenge.
In response to this, and feedback round these issues, we have surveyed the community (https://digitisation.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2019/02/18/digital-archival-collections-platforms-and-service-charges-in-higher-education-survey/) and will share headlines from the survey in the near future. We have also extended our digital archival collections group purchasing scheme (https://www.jisc.ac.uk/digital-archival-collections-group-purchasing)
Our group purchasing scheme offers primary source archives that enrich the user experience and complement libraries existing archives, collections and systems.
The scheme is based on the principle: the more products our community buys, the lower the price. We currently have nine publishers contributing over 100 arts, humanities and social science primary source digital archival collections to the scheme.
We are hosting 2 webinars featuring contributing publishers. You will leave with an understanding of how the group purchasing scheme works. You will gain knowledge of the breadth of content available. We will discuss the benefits of the acquisition model and the transparent pricing model.
