The Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas (Mathematical Research Center -
CIMAT) invites applications for a tenure track position in its Computer
Science Department.CIMAT is a federal research center in Pure and Applied
Mathematics, Probability, Statistics, and Computer Science, and depends on
the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT). Its
main campus is in the city of Guanajuato, a quiet, colourful UNESCO world
heritage site in central Mexico.
The Computer Science Department has 16 full-time researchers and 4 postdocs
working in: numerical methods, optimization, signal and image processing,
parallel computing, robotics and automatic control, machine learning and
data science, natural language processing and multimedia transmission. The
department builds upon a solid research infrastructure, an extensive
network of collaboration and international visibility. It is embedded in
the rich academic life of CIMAT with visitors and specialized academic
events all year round. The department’s postgraduate program is one of the
leading programs in Computer Science in Mexico. CIMAT is also involved in
consultancy and software development.
The tenure track position is aimed for researchers working on state of the
art topics in Computational Mathematics or Computer Science in general,
with the potential to become leaders in their specialty fields.
Applications in Artificial Intelligence are very welcome given the recent
initiatives that CIMAT has taken in this direction.
This position can also be used for visiting researchers as part of a
sabbatical leave. It can start any time in 2019.
