Hi everyone, I manage Heritage Lincolnshire's Layers of History project and am about to release a brief for some interactive digital reconstructions to be built and added to our website.
Do you know of anyone who might be able to create some cutting-edge reconstructions for us? If so, please ask them to drop a line to [log in to unmask] and I will send them the brief.
Background:
Working within three main themes of medieval settlements, parks and gardens and military landscapes, the project focuses on a number of archaeological sites across the county and recruits and trains volunteers to carry out archaeological surveys and documentary research that together aim to discover new information and shed new light on heritage assets that have not been previously studied, or where significant research questions still remain to be addressed. Site studies have taken place in each of the three project years. The project considers the sites within the context of the natural, economic, social and political forces that have helped shape the way that people have interacted with their environment over time.
The project is helping to ensure that Lincolnshire’s historic landscapes are better understood and recorded. The discoveries made will add to current knowledge about Lincolnshire’s archaeology, and will be widely disseminated. A major output of the project will be to feed the new information through to the creation of a series of dynamic and innovative digital reconstructions that will bring the past landscapes to life and help people to recognise, explore and understand the often scant remains that are still traceable in the landscape today.
Proposals are now invited from a suitably experienced individual or team of professionals to work with project staff, volunteers and relevant specialists to produce these digital reconstructions.
Many thanks
Beverley Gormley
Senior Project Officer
