** Invitation to participate **
As part of the launch of our new centre, the Connected Cities Research Group is organising its sixth workshop on Smart Urban Policy Futures on 9th - 12th July 2019 at the Maritime campus of the University of Greenwich. This year we have combined the workshop with the annual business symposium we host for our international partner institutions.
The overall theme is "Connecting working and living communities" and so this year's joined event sets out to gather knowledge and expertise on the use of new concepts and technologies to transform our urban systems.
More specific information and a preliminary programme will be continually updated on our blog at https://urbansystemsresearchgreenwich.wordpress.com<https://urbansystemsresearchgreenwich.wordpress.com/>, along with instructions on how to register.
By building on previous successes of Smart Urban Policy Futures workshops we aim to:
* Bring together multi-disciplinary expertise from around the world to explore the expanding frontiers of urban challenges and opportunities to improve quality of life, competitiveness and sustainability
* Provide a catalyst for theoretical development on networks in urban systems
* Develop international networks in the field
We particularly encourage submissions from academics and practitioners. We expect that during the workshop, through discussion with a wide range of external experts, we will develop a research and impact agenda for future work, particularly in developing effective and sustainable:
* Urban infrastructure systems and networks: Transport, energy, waste, communications
* Distributed and overlapping production systems (e.g. IT clusters, health, etc.)
* High quality urban business ecosystems and global value chains
* Business models for technologically transformed social systems
* Urban entrepreneurship in Town centres (regeneration, attractiveness and tourism)
* Liveable cities: Health, wellbeing and the movement of people and goods in cities
We look forward to receiving your submission soon and to welcoming you in Greenwich this summer.
With best wishes,
Petros
