Dear All,
We are reviewing our copying policies and procedures and would be very interested to hear how other archive services approach requests for self-service photography.
Although we are primarily reviewing the option to allow photography of physical material (written, photographic and pictoral), we are also interested to learn about how other archive services approach requests for the provision of copies of material in digital format (e.g. audio, text, photograph).
Some questions we are interested in are:
• Do readers have to complete a copyright form?
• Do readers have to complete a license for photography and pay a fee?
• Does an identifying marker have to be included in the image to indicate where the photograph was taken?
• Are there any restrictions on the amount of material that can be photographed/downloaded?
• Are there instances where depositors have restricted the copying for and/or photography by readers?
• How are data protection issues balanced with self-service photography?
• Are readers permitted to download documents?
We would be very grateful for any advice and thoughts issues regarding policies, procedures and processes.
Many thanks, the Richard Burton Archives
