The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in Amsterdam is the only Comprehensive Cancer Center in the
Netherlands combining a hospital and research laboratories in a single independent organization. It is a
well-organized and dynamic, international cancer research institute accommodating approximately 650
researchers and research support staff and many of the clinicians actively involved in (clinical) research. It
is an internationally renowned center covering fundamental, translational and clinical cancer research.
Statisticians within the Division of Epidemiology and Biometrics concentrate on methodological and
statistical research and provide statistical expertise to clinicians and researchers on diverse topics from all
areas of biomedical cancer research. A position is available for a fulltime
Biostatistician
The successful candidate is expected to supervise 2 statisticians and together they provide state-of-theart

and predictive biomarkers, sample size calculations, risk prediction, as well as small sample statistics for
animal and in vitro experiments. Statistical support also involves teaching an annual course in basic
biostatistics and occasional teaching on more advanced statistical topics.
Importantly, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to continue or develop an
independent research line in the area of statistical methodology in clinical studies, with the prospect of
establishing an independent research group.
