Chair of Biostatistics Department
St Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org<http://www.stjude.org>) is seeking an innovative and visionary leader to serve as the Chair of Department of Biostatistics. We seek candidates with a strong track record of scholarship in statistical methodology as well as demonstrable leadership and management experience. Work experience in a cancer center setting is highly desirable as is the ability to provide strategic and academic leadership, while fostering a supportive, collaborative and innovative workplace. Additional expectations include the ability to communicate effectively, financial acumen to oversee the departmental budget, ability to secure external funding and dedication to faculty mentorship and career development.
The Department of Biostatistics of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital plays an important role in advancing the institutional mission of finding cures and saving children through research, treatment, and prevention of catastrophic diseases. The Department of Biostatistics seeks to promote clinical, translational and laboratory investigations through the development and novel application of statistical science. The department houses the Biostatistics Core of the St Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as two specialized divisions: Biostatistics for Epidemiology and Cancer Control, and Biostatistics for Genomics and Neuroimaging. The 13 faculty in the department are internationally recognized for their contributions to statistical, bioinformatics and clinical trials literature with diverse research interests including clinical trial design methodologies, statistical genetics/genomics, survival and longitudinal analysis, Bayesian methods, robust approaches and predictive modeling. A few also serve as faculty in the St Jude Graduate School.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was founded in 1962 by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who believed that no child should die in the dawn of life. Since then St. Jude has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. St. Jude currently employs approximately 4,700 scientists, clinicians, and support personnel and provides a wealth of opportunity for innovative research and diverse collaborations. The hospital is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted to children. It is also a leader in the research and treatment of blood disorders and infectious diseases in children. The hospital is ranked routinely as one of the top pediatric cancer hospitals in the nation by U. S. News and World Report and has won national awards for workplace culture including nine consecutive years on Fortune Magazine's 100 best companies to work for.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent and academic credentials that qualify for appointment at the full member (Professor) level.
