Dear all,
Every year NMDC does a round up of highlight event and exhibitions from some of the few hundred museums in the group (basically, all these: https://www.nationalmuseums.org.uk/members/) but this year I'm also creating a second list, compiling whatever museums are proud of in their digital launches/innovation for 2019. I admit I did this partly out of sheer curiosity as to what's out there.
I'll publish a link here when it's ready. We've got a really interesting mix so far, ranging from hack days to Facebook Live astronomy, lots of VR, gallery interactives and an event on how search engines can reinforce racism.
I'm mentioning this now because it occurred to me that i. lots of you will be employed doing digital at museums which are NMDC members and ii. some of you may have a better idea of the exciting stuff in the pipeline than your press office. If that's you, I'd be very grateful if you'd ping me a line offlist to anything new and great this year (a link would be plenty). I realise the NMDC member thing is a bit of a limit, but I hope that encompasses enough places to produce something more widely useful.
Best wishes,
Kate
