The York Trials Unit (YTU) is one of the UK’s leading centres for the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials. Due to our continued success, we are now seeking to appoint a new Research Fellow - statistician at either Grade 6 or 7. You will join a team of statisticians under the supervision of Professor Catherine Hewitt. The posts offers the opportunity to be part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary Department, renowned for its methodological expertise and commitment to policy relevant research.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to contribute to the design and analysis of trials and collaborate with colleagues on research projects and grant applications. Your responsibilities will include development and application of appropriate research methodology, oral and written presentation of results and ability to clearly communicate our scientific research in order to help create impact. It is envisaged that you will already have research experience in an area that would complement and/or extend the existing research activity within the Trials and Statistics group, and across the wider Department (https://www.york.ac.uk/healthsciences/research/).
You will conduct high quality statistical analyses of trials, undertake statistical programming for checking, manipulating, summarising and analysing data, and assist (grade 6) or lead (grade 7) in the development of research proposals. Key requirements:
---------------------
MSc in a relevant quantitative subject
PhD in a relevant quantitative subject or equivalent experience
Knowledge of statistical methods associated with trials
Knowledge of how to design and analyse data from randomised controlled trials
Ability to program using statistical software (e.g. Stata)
Experience of writing up research for publication
Experience of managing and analysing study data
Demonstrable track record of conducting high quality research focusing on the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials.
At grade 7 level, you will be expected to have a high level of statistical expertise, experience of supervising the work of others and a strong publication record.
