Hi everyone,
I'm moving on to a different role which means my job is up for grabs as Outreach Leader for GeoBus London.
You'll be based at UCL but it is mainly independent working, developing, organising and delivering Earth science themed workshops to schools around London. There is a lot of scope to make it what you want and the post is funded for the next two years in the first instance but could be open to more, funding dependant. A bit of blurb about it below and of course follow the link for more details and to apply.
If anybody has any questions about the role then please feel free to email me at [log in to unmask]
Outreach Leader for GeoBus, - Ref:1777729
Full Time (Job share considered)
The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,328 - £42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
We are seeking to recruit a person with a background in science, science communication or science education to run and develop the mobile outreach facility, GeoBus (https://www.geobus-london.org.uk). The GeoBus has been running out of UCL and visiting schools in London for two years. Our vision is to engage primary and secondary school children in science in order to drive interest in and uptake of STEM subjects. There is considerable scope to shape how this is implemented.
The Outreach Leader will initially have responsibility for directly running the current activities on the bus, which involves visiting schools 4 days a week during term times. The post-holder will help to obtain funds and commitments from industry, charities and individuals. As the project develops, the post-holder will build and manage a small team.
The post is funded by the Natural Environment Research Council for 24 months in the first instance.
A degree in a relevant branch of the physical sciences (preferably Earth Sciences) is essential. Higher degrees are desirable.
Applicants will have a background in sciences, science communication and/or science education. Experience in fundraising is desirable.
The Outreach and Impact Leader will be based at University College London.
