Hello and happy New Year’s Eve!
I am writing with an update to the Researchers Exploring Inclusive Youth Literature (REIYL) conference, which will be held in Glasgow, 8-10 August 2019. General information and the CFP can be found at REIYL.com<http://REIYL.com>.
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Melanie Ramdarshan Bold, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Studies at University College London and author of the study<https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12109-018-9600-5>, “The Eight Percent Problem: Authors of Colour in the British Young Adult Market (2006–2016)”, along with Farrah Serroukh, Learning Programme Leader (Regional) at the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education, manager and facilitator of the 2018 Reflecting Realities <https://www.collaboroo.com/t5/Teaching-Literacy/Reflecting-Readers-Realities-in-Children-s-Literature-with/ba-p/2543> survey will be joining our programme for the REIYL Conference in Glasgow, 8-10 August 2019!
Additionally, we submitted a proposal for a special issue of The Lion and the Unicorn journal based on the #ReflectingRealities for their 44.2 (2020) issue and we are delighted to say that it has been accepted! The special issue will be guest edited by Dr. Ramdarshan Bold and our own Breanna McDaniel and Josh Simpson. We hope that some of the papers from the conference will be submitted to the open call for the issue once it is posted in early 2019!
With these updates in mind, the submissions deadline for the conference has been extended through 8 January, and submissions can be made at REIYL.com<http://www.reiyl.com/>. We’re excited to read your work and grateful to those who have already submitted.
Please check our website after 8 January for details on our updates.
See you in 2019!
Your REIYL Team
