This sounds like a fab event, and although I probably won't make it I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up!

Subject: The National Archives Wellbeing Impact Seminar: Thursday 28th March 2019: Birmingham

Wellbeing is a term that we now hear daily, whether it's the effects of loneliness being discussed on the radio or Unesco debating sustainable development and wellbeing for local communities; what is clear is that wellbeing is now an accepted and significant element of understanding the value of community and cultural assets.

We are pleased to invite you to a seminar to discuss wellbeing and wellbeing evaluation in terms of the different archive audiences. There has been some great examples of archive services measuring the wellbeing impact of projects; we'd like to explore what effects wellbeing and consider how archives could contribute and measure the impact they are having.

The seminar will start with a presentation from Ingrid Abreu Scherer of The What Works Wellbeing Centre.

The What Works Centre for Wellbeing is part of the What Works Centre network. The Centre brings together the evidence about the relative impacts on wellbeing of policies and projects, their cost and the quality of the evidence. The evidence programmes have been commissioned by the Economic and Social Research Council on behalf the What Works Centre for Wellbeing. The Centre also has a role to support the development of the evidence base. The What Works Centre is independent of government with a clear and relevant policy and delivery focus.

Ingrid's presentation will address:

Evidence and learning

* the state of the archive sector, and examples of good practice

* the role of TNA in supporting better evaluation

Wellbeing

*           concepts and definitions

* what affects wellbeing - mechanisms and interventions

* models and tools for evaluating wellbeing

During the second half of the seminar we will discuss how a wellbeing impact toolkit could add value to the evaluation tools you already have at your disposal and what form it may take.

The details of the event are;

Date:               Thursday 28th March 2019

Venue: The Priory Rooms, Bull Street, Birmingham, B4 6AF (The Elizabeth Fry Room)

Timings:          10am arrival for 10:30 start - 2.30pm Finish

Catering: A light lunch will be provided, please advise in advance of any special requirements by emailing [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
