Statistical Data Scientist, Rothamsted Research
A postdoctoral or postgraduate statistical data scientist is required to join the Statistics and Data Science Group within the Computational and Analytical Sciences Department at Rothamsted Research. The Statistics and Data Science Group contributes statistical data science expertise and research to collaborative projects and research programmes across all areas of Rothamsted science, from studies of genetics, biochemistry, cell biology and soil processes to investigations of sustainable food production at the ecosystem and landscape scale.
Rothamsted statisticians have a long tradition of collaborating on the design and analysis of field experiments and the application of a wide range of statistical modelling approaches, and have contributed to the development of agricultural statistics for nearly 100 years, since the appointment of R.A Fisher as the first Rothamsted statistician in 1919. Increasingly, however, our focus is shifting towards the analysis of 'omics data from lab studies, and to the combination of data from multiple sources and experiments, requiring the application of a range of modern statistical modelling and multivariate analysis methods, and consideration of a broader range of data science approaches including machine learning and other AI methods.
