Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Chemical Kinetics and Spectroscopy at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to conduct kinetics and spectroscopic studies on chemical processes relevant to the atmospheric compositions of Mars and Titan. The focus of the research will be on gas-phase and gas-surface reactions involving organic molecules. This research will be part of an endeavor at JPL to enhance the scientific return of NASA missions to Mars, Titan and other planetary bodies. The researcher will join a highly experienced and dynamic group at JPL, spanning the fields of physical organic chemistry, chemical kinetics, spectroscopy, and atmospheric modeling.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline with expertise in one or more of the following fields: physical organic chemistry, kinetics, optical and mass spectroscopy, and instrument development. A documented publication record in internationally circulated, peer-reviewed journals is essential. The initial appointment is full-time for one year with possible extensions based upon satisfactory progress and available funding. The position is available immediately, and applications will be considered until the position is filled.
The California Institute of Technology is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, or protected veteran status.
