Zeeman Building, University of Warwick. Room MS.05 is on the second floor, accessible via stairs and lifts in the main foyer.

Our event will take place in the Zeeman Building at the University of Warwick, from 17:00 till 19:00. Refreshments will be served before and afterwards in the Statistics Common Room, 2nd floor of the New Mathematics Building.

This talk will give an overview of the book “Inflation: History and Measurement” in which Jeff Ralph and his co-authors explore the history of one of our most important economic indicators and how the measurement of consumer price inflation has evolved over time.
— Gary Brown, Office for National Statistics. “Indices past, present and yet to come”
This talk will uncover the differences between the RPI and CPI, and scrape away the confusion about which to use. The future landscape of price indices will then be scanned, and some weighty research discussed. No-one will be left deflated.
