Like Julian, i make jokes in every lecture, but I too have trouble remembering them afterwards. I should ask the students-they will remember some of the worst groaners, I’m sure!
There’s a running gag throughout my lectures, in that they’re all called “... like a fish”: “Swims like a fish,” “Flies...”, “Runs...”, “Rings...” (about resonance), “Bounces...” (about hedgehogs), etc. The titles are all accompanied by visual gags on the titles pages of the slides. They serve as ice breakers before the engineering and biology gets serious. :-)
Cheers,
William
